A Fierce Chop in the Bay - Water Dreaming Series

£120.00

I dreamed of being at anchor in a fierce squall. The anchor held firm and I was hanging on below deck, watching the wind speed indicator show ever higher numbers as the boat rolled and bucked in the suddenly high waves in the anchorage. I seemed to be alone on board. Then I was flying above the boat and the water was an electric blue and we were very close to the rocks but the anchor was still holding firm.

This has happened to me a couple of times but I think I may have been remembering Dietmar telling me about wild nights at anchor in South Africa when depressions sweep up the coast in one direction and the Agulhas current flows the other way.

This painting is mixed acrylic media and liquid gold leaf on canvas. It stands up on its own so you could pop it on a shelf or bookcase, or alternatively hang it somewhere for a fizz of stormy colour somewhere.

15cm x 15cm x 4cm, cotton canvas on a wooden stretcher. Varnished and finished with cold wax.
