On the Banks of the Ijsselmeer
On the Banks of the Ijsselmeer
The flatness of the landscape yields unexpected beauty in the Netherlands, The skies and the water shimmer in the morning light.
This is the view from near the tiny Medemblik beach, a little stretch of fine sand on the Ijsselmeer. I ran along here quite often, choosing this route in the mornings so I could feel the sun on my face.
The geese, coots, grebes, occasional swan would look on as I went past, unflummoxed by my presence, simply going about their business. I ran on, towards the sun.
Always head towards the light. It leads you to the most beautiful places. And don’t look back; you’re not going that way.
